In 1987, a former dairy barn, the Gorecki farm, was purchased by Andrew
R. and Kristin Willey to restore and renovate it for the future site of
Stony Brook Gardens. The barn dates from the turn-of-the-century; it
was empty for approximately 30 years before it was purchased for the
business.
For two years, the barn underwent some rather painstaking renovations
to return it to its current showpiece condition. The looks today very
much the way it did nearly 90 years ago. In fact, in 1989, stony brook
gardens received the first ever HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD awarded for
a commercial establishment in Hopewell Township.
Stony Brook Gardens began providing landscape services to area
residents in the spring of 1989. At that time, the barn renovation had
not yet been completed. It was in May of 1989 that the Garden Center
formally opened its doors to the public for retail garden center and
nursery business. The Company grows many of its products at the Blue Mist Hollow Farm, including Nursery stock, landscaping stock, perennials and potted plants. The integration yields the advantage of assuring quality merchandise for landscaping use and retail sale at Stony Brook Gardens.
Stony Brook Gardens currently offers a full range of landscape services, nursery and garden center products. The business has shown strong and steady growth since it’s opening, and has earned a reputation as a progressive, service oriented and quality minded organization.
Stony Brook Gardens’ mission is to continue strong growth by providing high quality services and products that are on the “cutting edge” in our field. Our customer focus is primarily residential customers who seek personalized service and products for creative landscaping.
